Time for government to aid businesses, add jobs
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 6, 2010 12:43 am
With so many Iowans out of work and businesses struggling to stay afloat, now is the time for government to assist businesses in adding jobs.
In response to the Gulf oil spill, Congress is threatening to impose hundreds of billions of dollars in new taxes and fees on the oil and natural gas industry. This action will only stifle job creation and further damage our state and local economies.
Family and business costs for the fuel will go up as incomes go down. These tax-raising proposals do nothing to help put people back to work.
