To the editor:
Join me in supporting Tim Conroy in the at-large race for Iowa City City Council. He will be a trustworthy steward of our community's future. As a realtor, he spends time talking with people about what they like and are looking for in Iowa City. As someone who grew up here, he understands the history of the community and the amazing things it has to offer. And as someone who is a good listener and keen observer, he is capable of balancing growth for the future with our community's history and sense of place.
He has the approach and attitude to serve as a community leader. It's important to me that our city council members speak well of Iowa City and see its possibilities rather than focusing on its challenges. Even when he disagrees with someone, he seeks to understand the other's point of view in a respectful way and find a way to move forward, rather than getting bogged down in negative discussions and political positioning.
He will make an excellent city council member. He's committed to Iowa City and has vision to ensure that it remains vibrant and attractive to both those who live here, as well as those who are moving here. Additionally, he's capable of working with others in a respectful and productive way to build on the good things that are happening in our community.
