Ticket teaches daughter not to get caught
Jan. 13, 2012 11:03 pm
Shame on the City of Cedar Rapids for issuing a traffic citation to the daughter who was caught speeding in Cedar Rapids (“I-380 speeding tickets hurting C.R. merchants,” Jan. 5).
Dear old dad was willing to pay the fine as long as daughter promised to shop elsewhere. What a moronic way of teaching your daughter the value of safety! Is teaching your daughter that breaking the law is acceptable as long as you do not get caught the prudent thing to do? What difference does it make whether you are issued a citation by a police officer in a patrol car or by a speed camera? You were breaking the law.
I am glad to have the cameras in place so that my family can be safer on the road. I just wish that we had more cameras to catch more of the violators.
Why penalize the merchants of Cedar Rapids because you choose to violate the law?
