Think of the benefits for rural areas

Rural people, vote yes Tuesday on the proposed local-option sales tax extension. Remember the vote on Cedar Rapids swimming pools? Unincorporated (rural) areas voted no and then we had to gather signatures for a revote, which resulted in a “yes” vote and the rural folks received their fair share.
If passed, the new LOST will be in place for 20 years. The rural share will be about $5 million each year. Think of what this $5 million a year would do for our rural roads and bridges, property tax relief and conservation.
If the rural people want a piece of the action, they need to vote yes.
