The U.S. don’t need a border wall

What is this fascination with a border wall? It makes no sense.

Security doesn't come in the form of a wall; it comes from the guards who defend it. An undefended wall is merely a prop to throw a ladder against or to tunnel under. Even with a wall in place, any undefended sections will still be vulnerable because a wall isn't a substitute for guards. Which begs the question: If guards are the necessary ingredient to border security, and we already have the U.S. Border Patrol, why not just get more guards? With the $5.5 billion Trump wants to build his wall we could hire an awful lot of guards, and have the latitude to position them where they're needed most - like ports of entry - instead of having an expensive, immovable barrier. There is no good argument for building a wall.
