The president is not above the law

President Donald Trump has been assailing the Justice Department and the FBI for months over the Mueller investigation. His motives are political; he seeks to arouse his base, turn public opinion his way and intimidate justice and FBI officials. But the Mueller investigation grinds on and he and his supporters are more and more afraid.

As it becomes clearer that he may be involved personally, the president is demanding a counter-investigation. The president of the United States is invoking the power of his office to interfere with a criminal legal process.

This could very well lead to an unprecedented constitutional crisis.

If Trump as oresident can control an investigation against himself, is there any limit to what he can do?

The issue is far more important than partisan politics. It's more important than the election and who won. It's more important than control of Congress and the presidency.

During Watergate, President Richard Nixon asserted that nothing the president did was illegal. The Supreme Court unanimously rejected that claim.

The president is not above the law. Tell that to your Congressman and Senators and to the president.
