The governor keeps interfering

It seems Gov. Branstad would not mind interfering with local government again. He interfered with the renovation of the U. S. Cellular Center and now says he would sign a bill to ban Cedar Rapids' traffic cameras, as he doesn't think they are fair.
Perhaps the governor doesn't approve of the 80 percent reduction of fatal crashes and the decrease in violent crime that have occurred since the cameras were installed.
I would think that the lawbreakers who exceed the speed limit by at least 12 mph on the freeway and increase the risk of death/injury to others would love getting their tickets in the mail as their time is much more precious than mine. This process is much less time consuming than receiving a hand-delivered ticket.
I read about the dad who paid for the speeding ticket his daughter received due to a Cedar Rapids traffic camera and told her to shop in Coralville. When did the police there decide not to enforce their speed limits? Our son received a speeding ticket in Coralville, but we didn't think it was our job to pay it. As I recall he was not even going 10 mph over the speed limit. I hope that dear girl learns to drive safely despite her parental influence.
The governor's stance is perplexing to me as I thought Republicans advertised themselves as for personal responsibility and less government interference. Some things make me go hmmm.
