The freedom to believe and do what we want
Dec. 2, 2009 11:48 pm
A few answers to some Nov. 15 letters:
Regarding “Upset with the House and health care.” Who are the ones forced to support what they disbelieve in since 1973? Legalized murder of the innocent is immoral by any objective standards, but our way of life determines our acceptable beliefs. No law has the power to change beliefs. Bad law lowers standards of a country and gnaws at its roots.
Another letter attempted to convince readers that conservatives oppose all progressive movements. Not so. Only movements contrary to what makes America special. Nothing is more progressive than entrepreneurism and our country is marvelously saturated with that.
As to listening to Rush Limbaugh, I with millions of others do; never found the man to be wrong and not admit it. He fearlessly lays out what others in the media only hint at, or, perhaps innocently, hide. His program should be balanced with news from many other sources, without undermining your own ability to sift through massive offerings and form your own conclusions. That is a freedom we all treasure.
