The destruction of trees continues

It has been 4 months since a violent storm took our city's and parks' trees. Many trees were 100-year-old oaks. As we mourned their loss we were grateful for the many city workers and companies from neighboring states that helped haul away the dead and dying trees. But now that work is done and the large black bisected monster trucks are still here. Day after day overburdening our road beds with their heavy loads and looking for more trees to kill.

I am wondering who will pay to have our roads resurfaced, or the long deep ditches dug by their tires through our parks and the tremendous cost of repopulating our city's rights of way and parks with trees many of us will never see mature? Bever Park for one has been denuded of almost every tree. The ones left standing are marked with x's awaiting their execution. Many of these trees show no indication of disease and do not impose a hazard. They are wounded but still preform a vital purpose by sheltering nesting birds and squirrels. They should be left standing at the very least until the spring to see if they can recover. I am beginning to think as this tragedy of continuing to cut down the trees that these companies are destroying our trees to justify a larger bill to the city's taxpayers.
