The climate status quo is suicide

We are on a fast track to ending human civilization as we know it from catastrophic climate change brought about by our dependence on fossil fuels for energy. This is not a just a theory. This is truth. Tragic, terrifying truth.
The stalled Build Back Better bill includes around $550 billion dollars of investments in clean energy and other climate change initiatives. It is by far the largest effort to combat the climate crisis yet.
I don’t understand how people can refuse to accept this truth when the scientific community is so unified. I don’t understand how people can be so against taking harmless precautions against this terrible outcome. I don’t understand how people can be passive when they are so clearly being exploited by oil companies. According to a recent IMF report, the burning of coal, oil, and gas was subsidized by $5.9 trillion in 2020!
Human-made catastrophic climate change is horribly real. It is our looming doomsday. As U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said, “The problem is that the status quo is suicide.” What is more important than our survival? Support candidates who advocate for the Build Back Better bill and all legislation to mitigate climate change. We have very little time left to prevent the unthinkable.
