Thanks to all involved with popcorn sale

I want to thank all of the communities in east central Iowa for the tremendous support of scouting through our popcorn sale! The Hawkeye Area Council Popcorn Sale ended Nov. 29 with more than 81,000 containers of popcorn sold, a record.
Because of good fiscal management and the support of many stakeholders, more than $400,000 will go directly back to local scouting units such as Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops and Venturing crews. Also, additional funds will go to support approximately 25 percent of the Hawkeye Area Council's $1.54 million operating budget.
I also thank the volunteer leaders, parents, caregivers, businesses, friends, customers and, most important, the thousands of Scouts who took part in this sale. Stories from all neighborhoods and outreach efforts tell of young people “earning their own way” to Scouting adventure! Scouting is alive and well in our Eastern Iowa community.
