On behalf of Project GREEN, we thank the gardeners, volunteers, business sponsors, and the many gardeners and friends who came out on a beautiful summer weekend to make the Open Gardens Weekend 2023 not only possible but successful.
We are so grateful to the many gardeners who opened their gardens and shared their work and inspiration with the public. We especially appreciate the City of Iowa City which has given Project GREEN Gardens a home at the historic Ashton House, 820 Park Road. Project GREEN Gardens are open to the public year-round.
Our founders had the vision and purpose of enhancing, preserving and improving our local natural environment. Their goal to provide an inviting environment in which to live, work and play, and to ensure area communities provide citizens and visitors to our area attractive, welcoming green spaces became our mission.
This vision continues today as Project GREEN touches the lives of so many people through our nonprofit organization and affiliate partners. Our goal has remained the same throughout the 55 years that Project GREEN has been in existence: Serve by improving and enhancing our area’s natural environment by beautifying green spaces such as parks, major community entryways, roadsides and median parkways, and public school grounds.
We deeply appreciate our committed and generous volunteers and the contributions of so many others who make our efforts so successful. This extraordinary support is a tribute to our community and all who believe in the mission of Project GREEN.
