I just had to respond after I read the sales tax election results in Wednesday's paper (May 4).
Someone needs to tell the full story on the outcome. Sure, the total from Cedar Rapids was 221 more against than for. Tuesday night I checked on The Gazette's numbers on the computer and after totaling the yes and “”””no votes”from their figures the overall number was a little over 1,7000 “”””no votes”
The mayor and his cronies can take off their mourning hats and get back to the real world. The biggest reason, except the economy, was no one trusts any of them to do what they say they will. It seems they want a blank check they can use as they please.
Some individuals had stated their taxes went up after the first vote. The $100 million they will use for the hotel (albatross) on First Avenue, the amphitheater and other aesthetics they want will not help all of us. Come on gang, let's do what you were elected to do!
What happened to the money in the city budget for street repair and maintenance?
