Every solution to a problem started as an idea worth spreading. By taking the time to think, learn and reflect, the dynamic shifts. Ideas then become actions. Actions have power and sometimes that power changes people, organizations and even the world.
On Nov. 11, the first-ever TEDx event will be held in this area. TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a non-profit devoted to ideas worth spreading. If you are not familiar with TED, please watch a few of their fascinating talks online at www.TED.org.
TED, and independently organized events like TEDx Iowa City, have become the global forum for the expression of these ideas worth sharing. TEDx Iowa City will feature ideas from across the globe as well as our own backyard. International speakers such as Paul Gilding from Australia, author of “The Great Disruption,” will share the stage with amazing local individuals like Terry Wahls.
We are encouraged that area residents see the power of this event both now and for the long term. TEDx Iowa City will be a full day of presentations, performances and ideas relevant to each of us. This is a ticketed event, so please visit www.tedxiowacity.org to learn more and to purchase your seat at one of three venues in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.
It will be a day to celebrate who we are now, but, more important, who we can become. We hope you will join us.
