Teachers dedicated to educating children

I am a part-time bus attendant for the Cedar Rapids school system. I recently was injured and am on light duty for workman's comp. Because of this, I have had an opportunity to be at Kenwood Elementary School helping a student, which enables me to observe the activities in a first-grade classroom.
The experience has been exhilarating - not only being with the student but observing what goes on in that classroom on a daily basis. The teacher is phenomenal in her ability to keep the attention of 6-year-old children while instructing them in numerous areas of education, i.e. math, spelling, word meaning, discipline, monetary values, games, and on and on.
It has been a long time since I was in a classroom, but I must tell you I was very impressed with the ability of this young teacher. I've heard a lot of negative about our school system, but this experience opened my eyes to the wonderful education the children receive in that classroom and the other teachers I met there seem equally dedicated.
