Teach children useful lessons every day

When listening to our local radio station, I was surprised to hear an announcement for a children's camp that would teach children table etiquette and proper public manners. This struck my as odd, that someone would pay for a camp to teach what should be part of everyday life.
Later the same day, I was at a local grocery store. A field trip of children, maybe 6 or 7 years old, was coming through the store. They were given clip boards with healthy food choices and asked to find those items in the store. Again, this seemed to me to be part of everyday life. Yet our schools are experiencing record budget cuts.
Use every day to teach children the things they will need every day of their life.
