Tea Party dazed, confused
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 10, 2013 12:39 pm
There may be more at hand with Tea Party intentions than meets the eye. The 40-odd House of Representatives tea partiers calling the shots in the Republican Party continue to be dazed and confused with the re-election of Barack Obama.
The response has been to promote disrespect for and disruption to our government. Shutdown, debt default and economic damage in the eyes of world markets seem of little concern. As our economy continues to recover, will individual investors suffer? No matter. The way this is supposed to work is for losers of an election to prepare for the next with hopes of a different result.
Could it be these folks have given up on elections? Are voter demographics and issues shifting away more than they can handle? Have gerrymandering and voter suppression tactics run their course?
We are suffering a relentless attack from tea partiers on the well-being of our country and the foundations of our government. Confusion, chaos and disorder are now the tactics. It is the definition of anarchy. Has anarchy become a Tea Party option?
