Taxes should not be used to fund abortions
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Apr. 21, 2011 12:04 pm
Judith Rutledge complains that the Iowa House would punish women if our taxes aren't used for “medically necessary” abortions for rape, incest and fetal deformity for young and poor women (Des Moines Register, April 13).
“The rich and the poor meet together: The Lord is the maker of them all.” Proverbs 22:2. Taxpayer-funded abortions are not medically necessary.
Regarding rape, the Bible says: “The father shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the father: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.” Deut. 24:16
The rapist should be punished, not the innocent babe. Rape victims can give up their babies for adoption. If she kills the baby, she partakes in the violence done to her.
God's word reads that children are a blessing. God wants to bless these victims. Psalms l27:3
A woman carrying a baby who could not live will not feel guilty of murdering her own child if she carries it to term and then the baby dies. There is no difference between killing a pre-born or post-born child. Doctors can be wrong in their prognosis.
