Tax will help build attractive, safe community

Before the flood of 2008, Cedar Rapids was, in fits and starts, slowly becoming a pretty city. With the rolling hills and pretty trees and creeks, it was one of those places that was a secret throughout the USA. In a panorama of a pretty day, our city said “Big 10/Great Lakes” all over it. It's a pretty family town with many attractions, including lots of colleges and Iowa City/Corallville nearby.
Then the Cedar River turned on us like a wrathful force. To be an attractive community, it also has to be a safe community. Don't go near the water unless you feel that we have built a wall on both sides of the river. Say yes to the penny proposition. We'll be rolling on the river.
