Tax extension a crime against taxpayers
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Mar. 11, 2011 9:28 am
Can someone please explain how, after two years of our “temporary” local-option sales tax, which was sold to us taxpayers (partially) as a means to property tax relief, why our property taxes are now reportedly set to increase by
8 percent? If that weren't enough, our illustrious city leadership wants to extend the LOST for two more decades!
It feels as if we are getting the wool pulled over our collective eyes. I'm not against judicious use of taxpayer money for valid causes such as protecting our city from flooding, but this LOST extension smacks of outright theft.
