To the editor:
The Gazette is to be highly commended for publishing articles about end-of-life issues in Sunday's Insight section. We've been working in Iowa City with Iowa City Hospice on 'Honoring Your Wishes” - what each person wants for his end-of-life care to look like.
After caring for people, I know the main thing people want is to have their dignity maintained. To ensure that sense of dignity, these articles give everyone the information that's so sorely needed to make the best decisions. The pack of cards to use is terrific. It brings to mind the things that we've told people we want at end-of-life, but we haven't always documented that well. This article is wonderful!
If people want more info about 'Honoring Your Wishes,” please contact Iowa City Hospice at (319) 351-5665 and ask to speak to a staff member. Or call the
Iowa City Senior Center at (319) 356-5220 to schedule an appointment with a counselor. You and your family will rest easier.
