Take time to look back and remember

To the editor:
People should look back and remember. Let me tell you why.
Quarterly, I receive a periodical called SLOVO from the National Czech and Slovak Museum & Library. The most recent, dated Winter 2014/2015 was titled 'The Liberation of Plzen: World War II Memories Kept Alive”. This activated a good thought not remembered for a long time.
When my friend John and I returned home from the Army in July 1954, we would get together for a beer. Usually we would go to the Kozy Inn on First Avenue and 10th Street, across from the car dealer Allen Motors. Both of us would order a 'shell” and then visit. The 'shell” of beer on tap was a Pilsner beer brewed not in Plzen, but in Milwaukee by the Miller Brewing Co. It was my understanding, at that time; the Kozy Inn was the only place in the nation that used the term 'shell” when you ordered a draft beer on tap.
As past times fade away, if something you read or hear stimulates a good memory, go with it, it's worth the time to look back and remember.
