Take some time to be grateful for services

When I was bringing my empty garbage can back to my garage the other day, I began to think of all the services that help me. I don't have to drive my garbage to some landfill every week or to dump it in my yard. If I smell smoke, I can call the fire department, which will come to my aid, day or night.
If I suspect I am in danger, I can call the police at any hour and they will come. If the electricity goes off, I can call the electric company and soon it goes on again regardless of the weather that the linemen encounter. Many streetlights, potholes and questions are handled by a phone call.
How fortunate I am and how many people I am grateful to, people I may never know but who make my life safer and easier.
I hope to write or call some of those places that make my life more secure and convenient. Why don't you do that, too?
