Letter Body: Full disclosure, every public comment I have ever made when I was angry was a dumb one and one I have usually lived to regret.
Poor Joni Ernst. So now she is reminding us that we are all going to die. Pretty good common sense…except she left out that folks with access to medical care and the money to pay for it tend to keep ticking a lot longer than those of us who don’t. And the specific question to her was about those millions who are in acute danger of losing both. So, oops!
There is no question that doing these local town halls have been pretty stressful for our Republican house and senate members. They have tried sitting, tried standing behind podiums, and pretty much bombed trying Zoom. Some have cancelled at the last minute…the dog ate my essay or rather, my team couldn’t find a podium tall enough.
My heart goes out to them as they try to defend an administration that never tells them what the heck is going on, a leadership that keeps the back row members in the dark, and a president who wildly texts major policy decisions between 2 and 4AM. Remember, only 32% of eligible voters asked for this mess. Some probably pretty sorry they stayed home. Would be interesting to know how many town hall goers were no shows at the ballot box.
