Suspicion over Iowa leaders’ ‘flip-flops’
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 26, 2009 11:06 pm
Iowa Democratic Party Chair Michael Kiernan warns former Gov. Terry Branstad against “flip-flops in Iowa.” Really? How come the Iowa Democratic Party for decades had repeal of Iowa's so-called “right-to-work” law in its platform, but when they regained the governorship and control of both legislative houses, they couldn't even pass something as simple as “fair share” legislation?
Likewise, gubernatorial candidate Chet Culver campaigned across the state on local control of hog lots but after the election that promise disappeared faster than you can say Patty Judge.
I'd be open to a Branstad who could admit his errors. Can Culver admit his? He sure can't seem to remember who brought him to the dance right now.
