To the editor:
I encourage everyone to support Susie Weinacht. I've known her for some time and I believe that she exemplifies the type of leadership that Cedar Rapids needs. As a city council member, she has worked tirelessly to do good work in a fiscally responsible way.
She works collaboratively with everyone, no holds barred, to get things done for the city of Cedar Rapids. She was instrumental in advocating for our project - the 17 field baseball/softball complex, Prospect Meadows. Once convinced of its economic and recreational benefit to Linn County, and assured that children with disabilities will be served, she became a vocal advocate - building coalitions and doing the work to ensure this idea became a reality.
I was impressed by her commitment to our regional economy, and her ability to listen, plan and get things done. I've seen her work in this way on a number of projects, and I know that she is not afraid to dream big, and to do the work to make those dreams a reality.
Cedar Rapids is a wonderful place. We have challenges, but we also have immense opportunities. I believe that we need leadership that's not afraid of stepping up to build the best version of Cedar Rapids that we can. I look forward to seeing the work she will do in the future.
