Supporting AbouAssaly for Marion mayor

I had the privilege of serving on the Marion City Council for nearly twelve years, the last four as mayor. Marion still is my home and 'my city.” I follow city events and happenings closely and am not reluctant to make my thoughts and opinions known.
I have watched then-council member and now-Mayor Nick AbouAssaly mature and grow into these positions. He has become a professional, positive, energetic and relentless leader for our community. His ethics are above reproach and he has earned a reputation as a tireless champion of the city. He is approachable, engaging and responsive. He listens, respects and genuinely cares about our citizens and our community.
He is very aware that progress must be made, but not at the expense of our past. He knows the importance of growing the industrial and commercial tax base, while maintaining our small town character and atmosphere, while also encouraging and providing the amenities our citizens desire.
Being mayor requires significant time away from employment and family. Nick accepts this because it's what a great leader does.
Several other former mayors and myself have endorsed Nick for reelection. Both of his opponents from the 2015 election have endorsed him as well. We know what it takes and Nick has demonstrated that he has what it takes to be a great leader of the city of Marion for another four years.
