Support gun laws that make sense for safety
The Gazette Opinion Staff

As a physician, married father of two daughters and a resident of Iowa, I am quite concerned about people with mental health instability being allowed to buy and possess guns.
Iowa is among the 23 states since 2008 that have passed new laws or updated old laws that enable people who lost their rights to buy and possess firearms for mental health reasons to petition to have those privileges restored.
Read this article: “Some With Histories of Mental Illness Petition to Get Their Gun Rights Back” in the July 3 New York Times: www.

Please become involved and speak up in support of sensible gun safety laws for the good of everyone.
