Support Carberry, support farmers

Mike Carberry gets my vote for Johnson County supervisor. Carberry has support among farmers and rural residents. One of his opponents does not.
Janelle Rettig backed two failed bond issues on the jail. The Mehaffey Bridge project is over budget. She attempts to govern by intimidation.
She supports the poorly designed Land Use Plan that encourages urban sprawl at the expense of family farms by converting agricultural land into residential developments. Rettig voted to rezone the Dooley Farm on Newport Road to allow 70 homes on 90 acres, taking farmland out of production. She ignores the availability of 1,600 residential buildable lots in the county, 800 of those in the North Corridor. Rettig pays lip service to environmental issues.
Carberry has the experience and a record of working calmly and reasonably with people on the local, state, and national level supporting renewable energy. He believes a new jail should be put on hold while the county votes for renovations and additions to the county courthouse to increase safety, accessibility and space for staff, judges, prisoners, attorneys and citizens.
Most important, Carberry is the only candidate committed to the protection of farmland in the North Corridor.
