Supervisors put constituents ahead of pipeline agendas

Because my rural backyard was examined as a potential route for a CO2 pipeline, I have considerable appreciation for the setback distances proposed by the Linn County Board of Supervisors.
Ruptures and leaks in major oil and gas pipelines can be described as a common occurrence. That’s an important consideration when pipelines carry CO2, which in concentration is lethal to humans.
The Global Carbon, Capture and Storage Institute claims that CO2 pipelines are needed by 70–100 industries per year for the next 30 years to attain the goals of the Paris Climate agreement. The current CO2 pipeline proposals, and their dangers, should be viewed as, ‘the tip of the iceberg.’
The insanity of politics drives the advance of CO2 pipelines. The Paris Climate agreement allows India and China to build over two hundred new, long-term coal fired power plants while the U.S. works to offset that circumstance with projects like CO2 pipelines. On that note, Congress is now offering billions in tax credits to pipeline investors, who claim to be advancing ethanol more than themselves, while at the same time offering billions to accommodate electric vehicles that won’t use ethanol.
Having government officials willing to put the protection of their constituents ahead of CO2 pipeline agendas, is obviously beneficial. Thanks again to the Linn County Board of Supervisors!
