Study religions on your own time

I agree with Linn County Attorney Jerry Vander Sanden in regard to the mosque lecture ('County attorney questions mosque lecture,” May 21).
Have you forgotten that our soldiers are being killed and maimed in the name of Islam in Afghanistan? And county employees are being given paid time off to go listen (to a class on Islam)? If you want to learn about Islam, go to our new library, check out a book about it and do it on your own time.
One secret complaint to the Civil Rights Commission (the complainant never was named) got an image removed from a fire truck that had been there since 1997. Well, this one complaint isn't secret because I'm signing my name and maybe there will be more complaints about county employees getting paid time off for such foolishness. Diversity is out of control.
