State Rep. Art Staed serves on the Education Committee in the Iowa House of Representatives. He brings personal experience to substantiate his opinions and proposals there. In his 40 years as an educator, Staed has amassed experience in almost every facet of teaching.
Staed taught at Kirkwood Community College while being instrumental in developing workforce training programs. He always has been a proponent of four-year college degrees, but he has spoken out about the importance of the community college concept, where students can be involved in vocational and apprenticeship programs.
After Staed's work teaching at the postsecondary level, he taught secondary social studies. He broadened his skills when he taught elementary-school students as well. Further, he worked with special-needs children.
At one point, Staed expanded his passion for teaching by spurring a 'Communities in Schools” program, which targeted at-risk students, providing tutoring, mentoring and mental health counseling.
Staed has promoted a 'world-class, well-funded public education system.”
Staed has been involved personally in education at every level, serving students with varied needs.
He clearly has broad expertise in the field of education that allow him to maintain and improve the lives of Iowa's students.
I am proud to call Staed a fellow teacher. Please give him your vote.
