“Let us all constitute ourselves prophets of a new order of competence and courage … to win in this crusade to restore America to its own people.” — FDR, 1932
The real battle in the Divided States of America has never been between members of the working class, whatever their political persuasion. It has always been between the corporation and the Constitution.
This time the oligarchs have hooked Americans on drugs, buried us in debt, fractured us with identity wars and sedated us with mindless diversions — all to distract us from their chicanery. They know that if we ever truly wake up to their tactics and intentions the machine will implode. The thieves of privilege quiver at the thought of our awakening.
How shall we resist and win? By doing what the oligarchs fear most — by throwing down our hats, our banners and barriers, and storming the corporate Bastille together. Coordinated long-range boycotts might be one strategy.
We all deserve a good life. The question is whether or not we remember how to claim it.
