Stop funding anti-life Planned Parenthood
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 6, 2011 7:49 am
As we ring in a new year and a new Congress, we are most grateful for the gift of hope. We are blessed in that we can hope that the next Congress and the next generation will see a changed attitude in the issue of life and the respect we should all have for the sacredness and the gift of life.
We can hope that Congress will stop subsidizing Planned Parenthood, which is the most anti-life organization ever devised. Sadly, in 2008-2009, it was the recipient of $363 million of our tax dollars.
On Feb. 8, all are encouraged to attend a Day of Prayer at the State Capitol in Des Moines. Abby Johnson will be at the Diocesan Center to share her story of working for Planned Parenthood and expose that organization for what it is. The Council of Catholic Women is co-sponsoring the event. For more information and registration, call Ann Dietrich at (563) 923-5415 or e-mail accwann@gmail.com.
