Stop complaining and speak with your lawmakers

Everyone seems to be complaining about how our nation, state, county and city are being governed. Why not, instead of complaining, attend a legislative forum to speak with state officials, or get ahold of federal lawmakers Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst, or Reps. Abby Finkenauer and Dave Loebsack? Attend a supervisor meeting, or a city council meeting.
How are elected officials to know what we are thinking if we don't tell them?
I encourage everyone reading my letter to stop complaining and start attending because, one of these days, we are not going to have this opportunity to express ourselves. I hope that isn't the case, but look at what has happened in other countries.
Also, when attending these meetings, show some respect to our elected officials - don't swear, don't threatened, just be calm and state your opinion or ask a question.
