Stop blaming and work to solve problems
Jun. 3, 2010 12:36 am
James Schmitz, in his May 27 letter, stated that liberals are encouraging illegal immigration by not enacting legislation to prevent it. If he were to research President Barack Obama's statements on immigration reform, he would know that the president has repeatedly expressed wishes to write immigration reform legislation.
It is the Republican delegation that has expressed its desire to ignore this issue, since it is an election year. Obama also is sending additional troops to the border with Mexico in order to defer illegal immigrants from entering the country.
It is not right to illegally racially profile and jail American citizens using taxpayer money if they don't have identification on them (which I often don't), and that is the liberal standpoint on this issue.
Instead of blaming this problem on the wrong people, we instead should work together to come up with a solution that will make this country stronger, instead of dividing us.
Sadly, it seems that Republicans nowadays would rather point a finger across the aisle than actually work to better our nation.
