Standing for anthem makes reader proud

I attended the Iowa versus Iowa State football game on Sept. 8. What made me so Iowa proud was, when the national anthem was played, all Iowa players stood up straight on the sideline with helmet in one hand and their other hand over their heart.
I get a chill, goosebumps and a lump in my throat when the national anthem is played and Iowa players, coaches and fans stand in recognition and appreciation of the sacrifices given by our military in order for us to have all of the freedoms we have.
We also were treated to a military flyover, and the crew was recognized later in the game as a longtime military person and his military son. Recognition of a military person is a game tradition, too.
Kudos to Iowa, Kirk Ferentz, coaches, players and fans for making me Iowa proud.
