Sports story deserved better headline

To the editor:
How unfortunate The Gazette chose to put the headline 'The bullies are back” on the front page of the Oct. 4 sports section for kids and adults to see. The Hawkeyes won the football game and fought very hard, but there must be a better headline.
The community has been working to stop bullying in the schools and to say that being a bully is bad. The headline gives pause to say that bullying is good, especially if you win. The Gazette had the chance to put a positive spin on a rough game and picked the wrong headline. For school kids that really look up to the Hawkeyes, please make future headlines more positive.

Editor's Note:
Thanks for your letter and we appreciate your comments, but this was a headline based on a football game and comments made after the game by those involved. This had nothing to do with the real issue of bullying and needs to be taken in the context it was meant.
