Spend money wisely so LOST won’t last forever

Lots of talk about the proposed 20-year extension of LOST (local-option sales tax). It's probably a better choice than raising property taxes but it still hits our pockets. Voting yes for the extension basically makes it permanent; it will never go away. Voting no will just raise our property taxes. Actually, down the road, there will be another penny local-option sales tax added, and so on and so on.
The basic problem with government here and at the federal level is that they spend too much money, mostly unwisely. Work on that!
Regarding talk of flood walls on both sides of the Cedar River, I may not be as “smart” as the Army Corps of Engineers but I did love physics in high school and college, and from what I learned, taking all the large expanse of water from our 2008 flood, funneling and walling up on both sides of the Cedar would necessitate walls 100-200 feet tall. You do the math. People, this was a 500-year flood!
