Speed cameras working, despite public complaints
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 30, 2010 12:56 am
Weeks ago, I had a letter about speeders and the speed cameras. Now in the news, we have people getting tickets but saying they no longer own the vehicle. They are blaming the cameras, and say that if a police officer had stopped them, the violations would not have been sent to them.
As a licensed Iowa driver, it is your responsibility to take off the license plates or to make sure the plates are turned in at the motor vehicle department, and also to have your names signed as seller before you complete the deal, thereby freeing you of responsibility. If the dealership did not do these things, it should be held accountable.
It appears that the cameras are working extremely well, and they should be used as much as possible on the state highways, since there are so many people who have the opinion that the law is not for them.
