As Americans, we owe it to ourselves — and our country — to understand exactly what is happening in the land we have been told is holy. Why is Israel bombing Gaza? How are Palestinians in the West Bank being treated? Why should Americans be concerned?
These questions and many more will be answered in a conference coming up on April 26 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. Palestine: Hope for Change will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We will hear from several speakers about the ongoing crisis. We will learn about the legal issues, water rights, public health, and an eyewitness who will just have returned from Masafer Yatta — the area covered in the recent Oscar-winning film, No Other Land. We will also learn what we can do about the situation.
