Southwest CR park needs attention

To the editor:
Now that we have a 'world class” library - complete with its difficulty in meeting financial commitments - and a high maintenance park under construction across the street, how about some attention directed toward Jones Park on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids?
I thought the sewage plant was dumping its waste into the pond - that's how pathetic it looks. I don't see this issue with other ponds throughout the city and corridor. At the corner of Kirkwood Boulevard and Highway 30, tax dollars were used to build and design a median that was to be attractive, not an overgrown weed patch. This should be of highest attention to the streets department. After all, it's the first thing visitors to Kirkwood and the 5-star hotel see. And, sweeping the streets should be a priority.
Forget about a bicycle bridge to the NewBo City Market. We already have one: it's called 'The Bridge of Lions” (16th Avenue). Drive out C Street SW to the dual purpose bridge built in 1885 which still functions as a bicycle trail bridge and tunnel to Old River Road. That bridge was built by the RR to serve then Sinclair, Wilson & Co., and Penick & Ford. Its built with Roman design with no steel, only compressed blocks of stone. It's long overdue for care and maintenance because of the Flood of 2008.
Supervisors of all departments need to ensure our tax dollars are spent responsibly. I'm sick of what I see, aren't you?
