Southeast Iowa Citians must stay vigilant
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 23, 2009 12:28 am
To the residents of Southeast Iowa City:
Thank you for coming to the neighborhood meeting at Fairmeadows Park on Aug. 15. You are ALL to be commended for the questions and possible solutions for our violence problems.
Our meeting had people of all races and incomes and we were together for one purpose - to take back OUR neighborhood. Now, if we can follow through with some of the suggestions, I do not believe the delinquent behavior we have experienced can survive. I beg you to look to the neighborhood association and the Grant Wood Association for projects to be involved in to help our area.
Please stay on our city council to do the right thing for our children and us.
Please call the police at any time you see or hear something out of the ordinary.
Please smile and get to know the other folks in the neighborhood.
It is our job, and duty to make our neighborhood a better place to live.
I have lived here from the beginning and the neighborhood has changed - in the last year or so, for the worse. We can once again have the calm neighborhood with little kids playing and laughing without parents and grandparents worrying about a stray bullet.
