Someday, same-sex marriage won’t be issue

I was disheartened to see that the three Iowa Supreme Court judges lost the vote to be retained.
But I'm more disheartened to hear the lies and excuses as to why those who voted “no” did so.
They say this was the straw that broke the camel's back - the justices' vote to overturn the ban on same-sex marriage - and that it's not just the ban that's making them vote this way, but my heart and my mind tells me it's that very ruling making a basic human right the reason for this.
If you are opposed to same-sex marriage, why? Is it religion? Well, there's a separation of church and state in our legal and electoral system, so that shouldn't factor.
Let's go one step further: Why is it even a legal issue?
Face the facts, it's rooted in fear of the unknown.
If two people of the same sex want to get married, it won't affect you or me one bit.
You don't have to accept same-sex marriage or relationships, but decades from now, people will be shaking their heads, wondering why it was ever an issue.
