Some people’s reactions to messages against hate are hateful

Wednesday afternoon at rush hour I was with a group of people on Hiawatha’s Emmons St. bridge over Interstate 380. We were there exercising our First Amendment right of Free Speech. We were holding oversized block letters spelling out our sentiments, mostly political in nature. We received many positive responses from passersby on the interstate below. However, it stunned me to realize just how low our society has sunk where I saw some people react with a middle-finger wave at our message saying, “NO HATE.” Think about that.
