Some hope to destroy Trump presidency

With the presidency in its second year, the 'Hate Trump” perpetual motion machine continues at full RPM, churning out a new feigned outrage seemingly every week. A recent eruption: Donald Trump's alleged 'treason” at the Helsinki summit. There's little genuinely coherent explication of exactly what was 'treasonous,” but his sensitive private tête-à-tête with Vladimir Putin came just after an ill-timed federal criminal indictment of Russian operatives. Rather than being 'too cozy” with the Russian president, he was evidently supposed to publicly read the man the riot act. Had he done so, the repercussions would likely be equally seismic. There is no pleasing the mob.

Robert Mueller, leader of the Find Russian Collusion posse, continues his expensive and quixotic quest, dropping indictments like road apples: on campaign consultants, legal advisers, Russian spooks, dog catchers. At this rate, he seems more likely to discover the literal Pink Panther gem of the eponymous comedy film than any actionable proof of a Trump-Putin conspiracy to hijack the 2016 election.

At the same time, each week produces yet more evidence of political corruption in our federal intelligence and security services, revealing concerted efforts to torpedo Trump's campaign, then neutralize and destroy his presidency.

The awkward timing of Mueller's indictment appears more strategic than coincidental. Is it any wonder that the president would hint that Putin might be more believable than rogue elements in his own administration?
