There is a monster that is currently working in Washington, DC. It is not the federal “bureaucracy.” Our novel experiment in democracy is nearly 250 years old. It is currently very fragile. It has been fragile in the past but survived. The times are different now.
Democracy is hanging on by a thread. Republicans, who now control both houses of Congress, and the federal courts for the time being both have a knife. I beg them not to use their knife to cut the thread of our democracy. Instead, use their respective knives to defend our democracy and our constitution from this evil monster. We need leaders now not followers. History will record what happens. Your legacy and future of democracy are on the line. We and the rest of the world are watching. My hope is that you do not fail us now.
