Sidewalk in better shape than streets

To the editor:
This summer I spent a considerable amount of time, driving many extra miles, to find alternate routes to avoid the rough and bumpy streets throughout the city.
Recently, I received a letter from the City of Cedar Rapids Public Works Department asking me to improve the uneven surface on my sidewalks in front of my house. I immediately complied with the city's wishes and had the necessary improvements made on the sidewalks.
Now, they are so silky and smooth. If only I could drive my vehicle on them. That would be ideal.
