The Lake Macbride Study Committee was created by the state legislative council to review requirements and make recommendations pertaining to the use of large motors on Lake Macbride. The Department of Natural Resources was in support of making all artificial lakes of this size equal: Allowing large motors at a no-wake speed at Macbride.
The only way this is going to get done is if you call or email your senator and the Natural Resource and Environment Committee. Let them know that you support SF 54. The Iowa Senate switchboard is (515) 281-3371.
This issue has been going on for decades, and I know a lot of you don't think it will change. For the first time last year, it passed in the House of Representatives. Most of us fishermen don't belong to a club or organization. That's why we all need to call and email the Senate.
Believe me, the Iowa Sailing Club and the Cottage Reserve homes on Macbride are calling and they are for status quo.
