Shame that Union Station was razed

To the editor:
It was so exciting to read about how the historic Mott Building will be restored ('Historic Mott to get new life,” Nov. 19). I hope the Knutson Building will follow.
I have books and old postcards that show Cedar Rapids a long time ago. I love the history behind how Cedar Rapids was founded.
I only wish we would have had more 'forward thinking” people making the decisions in 1961 when the powers to be decided to demolish the beautiful Union Passenger Station for parking.
I did not live in Cedar Rapids in 1961 or they would have heard my voice very loud. I love to imagine it restored with unique shops and places to eat. What a shame.
